The Dead Nea

Here is the latest news on my knee. Yes, my knee is fucked, yes, my knee has been looked at by another doctor, yes, my knee is still causing me pain and YES, I WILL BE HAVING ANOTHER SURGERY!

My new doctor has looked at the most recent MRIs and told me the inside of my knee "didn't look good." I really wasn't thrilled with that explanation, but I guess his expert opinion was what I was looking for...Not Good. He said the meniscus looked damaged and should be repaired or removed. I could remain in physical therapy and see how that goes, or just have the surgery and see how that works.

He is leaving the option to me, but is stressing the surgery. He believes that will be my best option. When I have the surgery it is going to be like nothing I have had before. This surgery is going to be something very cutting edge and kinda creepy. He is going to give me a knee transplant by removing what is left of my meniscus and replace it with someone else's; a donor.

This donor, though, will have to be someone who is a match with me, has a perfect meniscus and oh yea doesn't need theirs any more. That's right they have to be dead! The doctor will be getting the meniscus from a cadaver. YUCK! But if it helps me walk and gets rid of all this pain I have in my knee, then sign me up. I'll get the transplant and suffer the pain of the surgery.

I go to the doctor in early December to ask all my questions about the surgery and about the risks, so I'll know more then. So for now, I am having another surgery on my knee and when it is all said and done, I'll have a new and working knee. The best part is that it will be an all natural replacement.

Peace,
DeMo
