College Daze
OK, so my car issues turned out to just be the battery, THANK GOD! Nothing more than low juice, so had the batt replaced and I was go to go.
Yesterday I picked up some students from American University and George Washington University and we headed down to Charlotte to Queens College for one of Pi Kapps leadership conferences. In my many years as a Pi Kapp this is going to be my first experience at Pi Kapp college, so I am not sure what to expect....
The drive down sucked!!! What was to take about 6 hours took over 7 due to major rain storms and stupid ass drivers! Then when we finally made it to the college, we had no clue where to go. The directions I had did not give specific details on where to go once you get to the school. I had to drive around three times before I found the parking deck. You know how it really sucks when you see where you wanna go, but you just don't know how to get there, yea, that was me.
So we do the check in, and I say my hellos to all my friends that work at National and I head to my home away from home. As I walk to across campus memories of my old school days came rushing back. Me with my bedding in hand and my suitcase over my shoulder I entered into my dorm for the first time. Lord that stale smell hit me like a ton of bricks.
I entered into the lobby, which is the common room with a ping pong table and foos-balls table and a TV and some chairs. Reminded me of my dorm back at VSU, but this room was ten times as shitty as the one I had. It looked like it was in mid renovation or something. I walked pass and made it into the hallway were the dorm rooms were, looking for my room....Looking for 124. I found the room, but there seemed to be a work order on the door to fix shit that was broken in the room. I thought typical of my luck and entered.
2 beds, 2 desks, a mini fridge/microwave, a mirror and a closet for 2. Not bad as dorms go. I mean it was way bigger then the one I had 13 years ago. Nothing like the GA State Village dorms - those kids don't know how good they have it! I made my bed and headed to dinner. Noodles and red sauce. I would say spaghetti and maraniara, but NO. Wasn't too bad..I only had a few bites.
After dinner I had to get to the first opening meeting, but no where on any of the information did it say where the hell to go, so me and about 20 students just stood around with our fingers in our asses trying to call people to find out where to go. Finally I got some info and we were off. Pi Kapp College had officially begun...
More to come about the weekend later,
DeMo
