Happy Birthday

On Oct 24, 2005 around 10:30 pm, Marcus Tyler Remillard was born. Matt and Karla Remillard welcomed their new son into the world a few weeks early, but I know Karla was more than happy to have him join them.

Marcus weighted 7 lbs 3oz and was 21 inches long. He not only was a big boy, but he had a head full of dark hair. I was able to see him shortly after his trip down the cannal, so he was still a bit crusty and had that new car smell. After a quick bath, Marcus was wrapped in a blanket like a burrito. We all passed him around and posed for pictures and Karla rested in bed.

Today, mom and baby get to go home and try to get some rest. But I am sure that is when all the fun begins...no more help from the nurses; it will be all up to Karla and Matt. Luckily, Karla's mom will be staying with them for a few weeks and Matt's folks live near by for any new parent worries.

The Weekender

Here is a little recap of my weekend:

Friday I went out to
Tallula's restaurant for drinks with some friends and since we started 'round 5 we called it a night bout 9ish. That was cool with me because I was going to head at 9:30. 10:00, watching MTV for Madonna's I'm Going To Tell You A Secret Documentary (IGTTYAS). It was 2 hours of her letting us into her life as she was on her last tour. A bit preachy on kabbalaha, but it was cool to see her family...

Saturday Met up with a friend of mine from GA and her friends. This friend, I have known for 10 years now. We rushed at the same time back at GSU; she was going through sorority rush, I through fraternity rush. We became great friends over the years, and she helped me get a job a Maggiano's. Not sure if I should thank her or hate her for that. But anyways, we went out to George Town that night. Started out at Morton's Steak House for drinks, then walked to the water front and ended up at Tony and Joe's Seafood for dinner. She had Clams Casino and I had Fried Alligator. The waiter dropped a ramekin of tarter sauce into and in her coach purse, so needless to say our meal was free. We got back to my condo and staid up till 2 am talking, until she said she felt sick and threw up the clams. Then she felt better. She mentioned clams always made her sick. That would have been good to know before she ordered them. Then we went to bed...

Sunday My friend and I met some of her friends for brunch and afterwards, I left her with them so they could go shop and do the sight seeing thing of DC. I went home and went to the gym and relaxed on the couch. They got back about 5 and then my friend and I headed for dinner about 6. I wanted to take her to Tallula's, but they were closed for dinner on Sunday's and this other place called Willow was also closed, so we just went to Shirlington and picked a place there. We had Italian at a new restaurant called
Extra Virgin. We were pleasantly surprised with the menu and the food. The service itself was a bit slow, it felt like we were there forever, but over all we had a good time. After dinner we came back to my place and loaded up her iPod with songs and then went to bed. Not a crazy night, but that's what happens when you get old.

Leap Of Faith

Have you ever been on a blind date? Have you ever been set up before? Well, I haven’t, until now. A coworker said she had a friend of a friend she wanted to “hook” me up with, so I said sure, why not. The young lady she wanted me to meet is someone she thinks I will get along with and if nothing else, I’ll make a new friend.

Well, I told her to get me this girl’s email and I’ll give it a shot, and I did. I emailed her and she emailed me back. We had a few email conversations and I did the infamous, call me if you have time and we can talk. This way she wasn’t pressured into calling some strange guy from the Internet.

So, Wednesday night my phone rings ‘round 9:30 and it is her. She called me I was shocked. She has been really sick and I figured she would just wait till she got better, but nope she called and she had the sweetest voice. Granted it was masked by the coughing, but she sounded very pretty. We talked about all sorts of stuff and the next thing I knew it was an hour later. She needed to go because she had to get up early, so we said our goodbyes, and I told her I would call her next week and see how she felt and we could get drinks and something to eat.

We’ll see how that turns out. I hope we are able to go out in the future, we are both pretty busy over the next few weeks, so it may not be until next month before we are actually able to make a face-to-face encounter. I’ll keep you posted.

Speaking of face-to-face encounters, I hope Matt’s went well this weekend. I’m pulling for you buddy. I want details!!!

Peace,
DeMo

Who The Fuck Are U

I am in the elevator today and this guy is in there, wearing black jeans, black shoes, black jacket and a white shirt. He is in the right back corner, I am in the left back corner and my coworker is in the front left corner. The doors from the inside are silver, so you can see images, but no like a mirror. I can see the guy looking at me, but since I am looking straight ahead, like you should in an elevator, he doesn’t notice I see him looking at me. He is staring at me for 2 floors, so I turn my head to look at him. Then he opens his mouth…

He said “I haven’t seen an argyle sweater in 20 years.” So I told him I was bringing to look back. You know just making light of the comment because I had no clue where he was going with it. Then he said “Did you have that stored away and brought it out?” I was shocked!!! The doors opened and he walked out. I had no chance to say anything to him.

First of all, my shit does not look old. It is practically brand new and if you know me I DO NOT wear shitty clothes. Secondly, if this guy would get his cheap ass out of Old Navy and into a designer’s store he would see that argyle, how timeless it maybe, is the comeback print that is on clothing and has been on the runways for many years. This “sweater” cost more than his entire outfit, that fucker!

Why can’t people just learn to shut the fuck up on elevators and watch the floor numbers change like the rest of us. No one wants to hear anyone else’s conversations nor do we want to start up a
conversation with anyone. And while I am at it; for those of you who like to bathe in your cologne, take the fucking stairs. You smell!

Hung Up And Out

Hung Up And Out

Today Madonna’s Hung Up aired on public radio for the first time. Ryan Seacrest interviewed Madonna, but since he liked to hear himself talk, that is all we got; 10 mins of him talking and about 5 mins of Madonna.

The song did play and it was great! I, however, heard it on MX on Sunday. So this was my encore presentation. Madonna did say she has a confession line for you to call; 1-888-2CONFES. Call it up and tell her all your dark and dirty secrets. Who knows where the recording might end up…Playing on tour???

Toke It Up

I was talking to my mom yesterday and she said she and my dad went to Junkman’s Daughter in Little Five Points. That’s an area in Atlanta that has a unique feel to it. Where punk, trendy and Rastafarian motifs all come together. This shop is a huge building that has just about everything you can imagine under one roof. You can buy Doc Martin’s, sex toys, costumes for any occasion, vintage clothes, and specialty items for habits that are...hmmm…how to put it…illegal.

Which brings me to my story of the day. My folks walk to the back room where the black light glows and the posters on the wall are of Bob Marley and mushrooms with faces. On the shelves are pipes, bongs, and hookahs that are all hand blown from multi colored class. They are each on their own a work of art, but together a room of pot smokers dreams.

My mom is a lady of the moment and knew what the articles where and knew how to use them. My dad on the other hand stepped off the turnip truck and began to ask questions. Now, I have to interject; If you do not know my dad this is will not be as funny, but if you do know my dad, you’re going to piss yourself because I know you can picture him doing this.

So the folks are standing in a room of bongs and my dad asks the girl behind the counter “What are these used for, smoking tobacco?” She just looks at him and shrugs her shoulders. My mom smiles at her. Then he asks her “How do you smoke tobacco in one of these things?” Once again she shrugs her shoulders. My mom is beginning to laugh. My dad is now holding a 3 foot bong and turning it around as to exam it and really try to understand the workings of the newfangled tobacco smoking device.

At this point, my dad has cause so much commotion two more guys that work there come into the room and begin to educate my dad on the world of “tobacco” smoking. They point out the water bongs and that just blows his mind. He asks, “You smoke that though the water, how does that work?” The guys explain the process and he still proceeds to ask the girl behind the counter, “Do you smoke tobacco using this water pipe?” She looks at my mom and my mom says, “You can tell him he has no clue.” She tells him she does and it is better than a regular pipe.

I still don’t think my dad gets it because now he asks the question that would get most people shot. “Where do you buy tobacco for these pipes?” The guys look at him and I guess they figure his is not a cop and tell him you can get it at any street corner around here. So of course my dad doesn’t let it go and asks, “what kind do you use?” One of the guys tells him it is an exotic tobacco and they all laugh; the lady behind the counter, the guys, my mom, everyone, but my dad. As they are all enjoying their laugh my mom tells them thank you and starts to leave. As they are walking out, one of the guys says to my dad if he wants to try a pipe out to let him know. The tobacco will be on him.

You just gotta love Little Five Points! If you’re ever in Atlanta it is a must see place on your agenda.

Peace,

For You

It has been said my Blog has been getting a wee bit too focused on Madonna lately. Well I guess your right…but….can you blame me!?!?! So here is a topic I will address; cheating. Everyone seems to do it, so why is it a surprise when the other finds out?

No matter who you are, you can’t tell me you have never thought about being with another person. Whether it has been something as little as damn he/she looks fine, or I wish I could be with that person, we have all wanted what we do not have. It is human nature. So why do people act so surprised when the other comes clean and says they are not happy with the relationship and wants out. You know everyone in that relationship knew there were problems, but no one wanted to address their unhappiness until it was too late.

There have been debates on what is cheating, is it the act of actual sex, or is there such thing as emotional cheating. Where a guy or girl can build a friendship towards another and the relationship can grow stronger than the committed relationship. Is that cheating or just becoming friends? Are you allowed to become good friends with someone when you are in a relationship? Is your other supposed to be your only best friend?

If that is the case, then anyone who is in a committed relationship and has a strong friendship with someone of the opposite sex could be deemed cheating on their spouse. Is that right? I don’t think so, but since I am single I get the benefit of having lots of strong friendship with lots of people of the opposite sex.

I have been through girlfriends who have cheated on me and I guess at some point I knew there was a problem with our relationship, so when we had the talk it wasn’t a huge surprise when they told me they cheated. Don’t get me wrong I was pissed, but I wasn’t surprised. Cheating is cheating, what ever you think it is. No one is going to define it for you. If you think talking to the other sex is cheating then that is your definition, no matter how stupid it may be. But I will say, when body fluid is swapped that is usually a good indicator of cheating.

Madonna-Mania

Today, Madonna has her new contest with Motorola and you can win not only her stuff, but one of Motorola’s new MP3 phones. Way cool! In addition to Madonna’s site holding a contest, MTV is having one as well. They are in possession of tickets to screen her new documentary "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret." It’s like Willy Wonka and his golden ticket, but without that fat kid, oh wait…without that girl who chews the gum.

Here are some important things to know for the upcoming weeks:

-Listen to your favorite radio station to hear "Hung Up", the first single off Madonna's upcoming new album, starting 10/17 (around noonish)

- Go to MTV's Overdrive on 10/19 to catch a 10 minute preview of Madonna's documentary

- Tune in to MTV at 10pm on Friday, 10/21 for the world broadcast premiere of Madonna’s documentary, "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret"

- No surprise that Madonna may be giving her fans a special treat while promoting her new album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. Buzz is she's going to perform at New York City's Roxy on 10/22. And she's enlisted her wedding party deejay, Tracy Young, to remix her first single, "Hung Up."

- Tune in to MTV2 at 3pm on Thursday, 11/3 to catch Madonna performing "Hung Up", the first single off her new album, for the first time live at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon, Portugal.

- Listen to Madonna's new album, "Confessions On A Dance Floor" a week before it hits stores on The Leak on MTV.com, starting 11/7 as part of Spankin' New Music Week.

That’s all for now, but I’ll keep you posted,
DeMo
A Quickie

Hello,
Well I worked long and hard today, and then had to go to therapy. That's physical therapy and boy did they kill me today. I swear it seems like they come up with more and more things to make me scream. But it is all supposed to make me better, yeah right.

As you know it is Tuesday night and that means nip / tuck, and hot damn was it good! I wont spoil anything, but next week is one you're not going to want to miss. They are going to arrest the carver, and you're not going to guess who they think it is!!!! Oh, I can't wait...but I will.

So that is about it for now. Still pissed about the Braves not winning, so I am not watching baseball and as long as the Astros are in it I am rooting for the other team, no matter who it is. Those fucking ASStros!

The Starts Are Out In Atlanta

My buddy Trey was out with his wife this weekend and ran into LL Cool J and Jermaine in midtown (Atlanta). Like always, Trey had his trusty camera and took a picture of the famous duo. LL and Dupri struck a pose and with a click I bring you Trey’s master piece. Check out the bling around LL’s wrist. That probably cost more than I make in a year, make that 5 years. Good work Trey for the excellent shot and not getting beat up by there posse while taking their photo.
Weekend Update

Like I said earlier, I was heading to a party on Friday night, then a friend was visiting on Saturday and then I had a fraternity thing to go to on Sunday....in brief here was my weekend.

Friday night: Met up with my friends and we headed out to Tabaq for dinner and then to a bar for the birthday party. I already told you about this, so I'll move on.

Saturday night: In a good mood cause GA won! Met up with my friend from Atlanta and we headed out to George Town to walk around there. The rain was a little drizzle by this time, so strolling up and down the streets wasn't so bad. Then we went to a Thai place for dinner. I have a spicy basil with chicken dish and OMG did it set my mouth a flame! I thought I was going to die. I ended up pulling out 12 chilies from my dish that the chief must had slipped in there. I know my server was laughing at me because every time he came to fill my glass with water, bout every 3 minutes, I had tears in my eyes. After dinner, I drove my friend to the metro, so he could go back to his hotel and I headed home. It was good to him and I was pleased with our night.

Sunday night: I went the University of Maryland, Baltimore County's (UMBC) chapter of Pi Kappa Phi because I am their new chapter advisor. I met with executive council and then with the entire chapter. They seem to be a great group of young men and as a chapter doing extremely well. I am glad I do not have too much disciplinary work there. They do not seem to be a wild group of guys, but they do know how to have fun. I wish more chapters could be like them!

So in a nut shell that was my weekend. Nothing too out there, but enough stuff to keep me going. And to think all that and I was still able to watch my GA teams win and loose respectively. Have a good one and until next time...

Peace,
DeMo
Going Out With A Bang

OK, so maybe the experts DO know they are talking about, but I bet they never thought it would come down to a record 18 innings to decide the NLCS. Granted the Astos won, but the Braves put up a fight that was worthy of any team. That game was the reason my Bravos made it to the playoffs. It just sucks they couldn’t finish it off. But coming from Atlanta and pulling for the Braves my entire life, I am used to seeing them loosing at the end. All and all I am proud of those guys and think they did a hell of a job!

Speaking of a hell of a job, did you see the UGA game….GO DAWGS! They kicked some Tennessee ass on Saturday. That puts my dogs at 5-0 and 3-0 for the SEC. They are currently ranked 5th and I am sure will keep rising. Here is Georgia’s upcoming schedule so you don’t have to miss a game:
10/15 @ Vanderbilt 2pm
10/22 Arkansas
10/29 @ Floria#11 3:30pm
11/12 Auburn #21
11/19 Kentucky
11/26 @ GT (Scotty this one is for you)

Too Late

I just found out the girl I like got engaged 2 weeks ago. Figures that would happen. It's true that she is not married as of yet, but I think I should let this one go.

Tonight, I went to a friend of a friend's Birthday party. It was fun lots of people, mostly people I have scene before, but not really spoken to. Met a few "possible" women there, but mostly it was a bust. Had a great time though.

For dinner we went to this Turkish restaurant called
Tabaq which means 'plate' is Turkish. It was a new place with swank written all over it. There was 5 of us and we did tapas for the table. I ate liver and liked it. Not sure if that will happen again, but it was really good. Who knew?

Ok it is nearing 2 am, so I am off to bed. I have to spend the day tomorrow with a friend from GA. Fill you in on how that goes later.

Peace,
DeMo

Game 2

Last night my boys did it! They came back with full force, just as I said they would. Braves beat the Astros last night, 7-1, and Smoltz was on fire. I told you those “experts” didn’t know what they were talking about. The Braves are not some team to pass over.

In addition to Smoltz’s impressive pitching,
John McCann gets my vote for MVP for game 2. He is only 21 yrs old and knocked one out of the park against Clemens, one of baseball’s most honored pitchers. McCann is the first Brave in history to hit a home run in his first postseason plate appearance -- which means that among the guys who never did were Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Dale Murphy, Joe Torre and those two Joneses. He's the first catcher to do that since 1913 (when Wally Schang became the only other catcher ever to homer in his first postseason at-bat). And McCann is just the second Brave to homer off Clemens in any postseason game, joining only Andruw Jones (who did it last year).

(stats espn.com & picture AP)

So let’s see it again, rally cap it and chop shop it for game 3, Saturday at 7:30, and support the home team, ummm, the Braves that is.

This one goes out to Scotty; sorry the Jackets got squashed last night. Maybe next time GT can pull out a win for yea. I mean they all can’t be as good as UGA.

Peace,

DeMo

Tomahawk Chop

OK it is playoff time and the Bravos are in it again. This time we are up against the Astros. While last night the Braves might not have had their best game, loosing 10 to 5, I believe tonight will be their night to shine. Smoltz is on the mound and usually comes through when we need him to.

Most of the experts have reviewed the teams and 9 out of 10 agree the Astros are going to win the playoffs. But what the hell to experts know? The only reason they are experts is because someone pays them for their opinion, and hell opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one! So I say fuck the experts and root for the home team – Go Braves!!!

Flip them rally caps and get those arms a choppin’ my Bravos are in the house and they are not stopping till they bring us the playoff like they did when they dominated the ‘90’s.

Peace,
DeMo

Recapping What’s Up

Hello all. Not too much going on, but I thought I would say hello and tell you what has been circulating in my world. Last we spoke; I was cleaning my condo because my buddy was coming for a visit. Well…I finally cleaned up my place. I started to clean about 5 hours before he came, but I cleaned nonetheless. We had a good time, hung out in DC with his friends and went to a bar called the Brickskeller. They had about 1000 beers from all over the world there. The only issue we found was they didn’t have any in stock.

Sunday, I drove him and his friend back to BWI where they caught their plane back to Atlanta. Of course, I was stuck in traffic on the was back due to a wreck, and then I took the wrong exit off the BW parkway and ended up in a part of DC that no one should ever have to drive through. I finally made it to the Capitol where I was able to maneuver myself to familiar territory and made it home.

Monday, worked ten hours and went home to watch some TV. Las Vegas was on and so was Prison Break. I supported L.V. and DVR’d Prison Break. I need to give Prison Break my full attention. There is so much that goes on in that show I have to watch with no interruptions. Also on Monday night, is Kitchen Confidential. That show is one of the BEST new shows this fall. Maybe I am bias, since I worked at restaurants for most of my life and can relate to the humor in the show. All I can say is watch it and you be the judge.

Last night I watch another weekly fav, Supernatural! Since Buffy left the airwaves, there hasn’t been a show that dealt with demons and things that go bump in the night without dumbing it down to kids. OK there was Angel, but he was a spin off, so I am not counting that. Supernatural is such a great show. It is creepy and eerie in all the right places as well as written with intelligence and maturity. The 2 main characters are from past WB shows, so I am guessing they will try to bring their fan base over, but the show should stand on its own since I believe it is going to be a huge hit. Plus, look for clues within the show to navigate within their website to unlock hidden stuff.

I also, watched Nip / Nuck last night (they get their own paragraph). I still love the show, still dig the British chick. Still love the 3some story line, hate that Christian kicked her out of bed! My bed is open with no waiting if she needs one to get into...just an offer.

That’s about all from me for now. I should have more to post in the next few days. I have a party to go to on Friday, another friend coming to town this weekend and a fraternity meeting to attend on Sunday. Should be something worth talking about in there, right?

Peace,
DeMo
