Next few days

This weekend I am off to TX for a Pi Kapp conference and then after that I am heading to GA. I will be staying in GA for my Birthday, so I can make up for my last birthday where I was recooping from my knee surgery. I'll be hosting a party at Compound on Saturday August 5th. On my actualy birthday, the 7th, I'll be a co-DJ on Q100 from noon to 1pm, so you better listen, and later that night I will have dinner with the folks. Then head back to DC for some rest.

If you can come out on Saturday for my party at Compund I'd love to have you. All you have to do is send me your name and who you're bringing, so I can get you on my guest list. Then we can party it up all night long! Just go to my MySpace account and leave me a message - http://www.myspace.com/demarco433

Have a great weekend and I'll keep you updated as my week progresses.

Friday Night Dinner

Friday I woke up in one of those moods where I just wanted to die. You know where you would just say to yourself “I am never drinking again” moods. Not that I got smashed the night before, but I felt like real shit that morning. I went to work and barely made it through the day. Later that night I went to dinner with Kat and we headed to Extra Virgin, an Italian restaurant. This place is very nice and we went there before when I was on crutched after my surgery. Granted, at that time I was not feeling too well and couldn’t walk that great. Come to think of it, that is kinda how I felt this time. But anyways…

…We were able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy some bread with oil, balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese. Kat had a glass of wine, I stuck to the H2O. The weather was like a perfect spring evening with a light breeze. Considering it was the end of July, I thought we would have melted out there. The air was crisp and the sky was crystal clear.

Dinner was fantastic, as always, and we just sat back and talked about life. There is so much that can be said for a good conversation. I have been out with people who can not put a sentence together, let alone keep a conversation going for hours. We sat on the patio and talked and talked and talked until our server said goodnight to us and he left.

It was a simple evening of dinner and talking, but what a great way to spend the night. The weather was perfect for us to sit on a patio and watch the people go by, and criticize them. For us to just relax and forget about what the week had stressed us out about. And mainly for us to just catch up on each others lives. Sometimes, it is the little things that go along way. You know what I mean. Hope you can have a night that is so unplanned; it will totally fix what ails ya.

I did, however, go home and pass right the fuck out because I was still feeling like shit on the inside.

Late Night

You know you’re getting old when you go to a party and you seem to be the oldest one there. Granted, I am just thirty years old, but it does sting just a little. Thursday night I went to a buddy’s party for his roommate. I had never met his roommate, nor did I know how old she was. My friend is early 20’s, but I really didn’t think about it till got to the party and realized it was her 21st birthday party. I hadn’t been to a 21st birthday party in many years. There were girls screaming and screeching upon every arrival. I just couldn’t take it. Neither, from the look of the bartender, could he.

As the night went on, I had a few drinks and by 11pm I was dead. Guess the old man syndrome was kicking in, so I had a Red Bull. About twenty minutes later I ordered another red bull, and to follow that one came another about 15 minutes later. I guess the few drinks I had earlier made me a bit light in the head and allowed me not to think about the consequences of drinking 3 red bulls in an hour and a half.

By 1:30 I was heading out and I drove another guy home that was a bit three sheets to the wind. I think he pasted out in my car a couple of time before I got him home. I had to drop him off a ways from his door, and I watched him stumble himself to the front door. As I began to leave his apartment my heart was already beginning to pound like I just finished running a marathon. Oh who am I kidding, like I just walked up 5 flights of stairs. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest and race me home, it was beating so fast.

When I got home, I laid down for a bit and tried to go to sleep, but all I could do is listen to the pounding of my heart and feel the shaking of my limbs. I swear thought I was going to die. I knew the headlines would read something like “Man killed by a Red Bull” or “Man took the Bull by the Horns and Lost.” You know something with a pun, yet stupid at the same time. About two hours later I was finally calming down, plus I took some meds with a sleeping agent in it to try to help with my over activeness.

I ended up sleeping till about 11am on Friday and getting to work about noon. Man did that suck!! I swear I just can not party like I used, and stay out late on a school night. It seems if I am not in bed by eleven I am just screwed. Where are those days when you could just stay up as late as you wanted and then get up for a 9 O’clock class with out even batting an eye. Man, youth is definitely wasted on the young!

Birthday Bash

I am getting ready to head back down to the A-T-L for a little fun with the friends for some Birthday celebrations. Aug 5th I'll be at Compound sharing some good time with the friends over some great drinks and even better music. If you're free that night and in the mood for a great time you're more than welcome to join in.

Then even better, on my actually Bday, Monday Aug 7th, I'll be sharing the airwaves on Q100 with Tracy St. George from Noon to 1pm, so make sure to tune in and listen to me as I guest DJ. I'll be playing all your favorite tunes and maybe even giving you a shout out!

Thanks Caroline for the picture, you managed to get my good side!

Peace,

Life

Have you ever just wondered when life was going to pass you a "get out of jail free" card and make it a little bit easier for you? You know what I mean, maybe make all the lights on your way to work green, or maybe let you hit the lottery, so you can pay off some of the ever growing debt, or just let you get through the day without a new problem coming up. When will life ever become more than just an obstacle and become just an observer?

I believe life will become what you make of it, and if you don't put one hundred percent of yourself into what you do, you won't get that in return. But for some reason I see my friends, and me included, keep going and going, trying and trying, but always something will happen to get in the way of their goal. It may be something as simple as a new task which will take them into a different direction, or something as more serious as a life threatening circumstance. Why does life always take us onto paths that are not so simple?

I would like to just have one week where I can call up my best friend and tell him every day that everything is great and I have nothing but wonderful things happening to me. Then in return he says the same thing. You and I both know that will never happen, but wouldn't that be great. I only hope that no matter what life throws at you, good or bad, you take it head on and give it all you have. The only way to make it in this world is with friends and without good ones you might be in trouble. So take the time to say thanks to the ones you have. You never know how much they can help until you don't have them.

Peace,
DeMo

Long time to see

I have been busy the past few weeks, but I have had some time to squeeze in some fun.

I saw Madonna in concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on the 28th on June. That concert was so unbelievably good and so unbelievably HOT! Madonna pumped in heat, so the auditorium felt like a dance club after you have been dancing for 6 hours. Madonna played for just over 2 hours straight and of course she did not let the fans down.

July 4th, I headed out the National Mall for the fireworks. Headed out round 3 to meet some friends, but they ended up not coming out due to them smuggling in contraband; glass bottles and alcohol. They ended up going back home and I stayed on the Capitol steps for 5 hours waiting for the National Concert to begin. “George” from Seinfeld was the host and he did his little song and dance before Vanessa Williams performed followed by Elmo, then Michael Bolton and Stevie Wonder. Nearing Stevie’s conclusion the fireworks started and the show was OK, but I don’t think they compared to Boston or New York.

This past weekend I went the DC Improv to watch Christian Finnegan perform. He is a regular on VH1’s Best Week Ever and was on the Dave Chappell Show. This guy is so funny and is you have the chance to see him in your town, do so! After his show I went with Mara and Jim to watch the Ultimate Fighting Championship matches at a local bar. Those matches just kick ass!

Sunday, of course, I watched the World Cup, and got see the home country win! Va l'Italia va! Pround da essere un italiano, date dei calci alla merda da quei bastardi francesi! Let’s just say I was pulling for Italy. Later that night I went to see the Gypsy Kings in concert. It was a mad rush to get a seat on the lawn at the concert hall, but we got a pretty good spot and the show was good. For an act the Gypsy Kings were not all that impressive, but they sure know how to play. They had the entire audience on their feet dancing and salsa-ing to the beat. I guess I just can’t get enough of drunken white folks trying to set free their inner Latin soul. Quite funny, but I guess you had to be there.

Well that is about it for now. I’ll keep you posted as things happen.

DeMo
