Blow Me - It May Save Your Life

Study: Fellatio may significantly decrease the risk of breast cancer in women

(AP) -- Women who perform the act of fellatio (blow job, oral sex) and swallow semen (cum, Adam's special sauce) on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found.

Doctors had never suspected a link between the act of fellatio and breast cancer, but new research being performed at North Carolina State University is starting to suggest that there could be an important link between the two.

In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio and swallowed the ejaculatory fluid, over the past ten years, the researchers found that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a lower occurance of breast cancer than those who had not. There was no increased risk, however, for those who did not regularly perform.

"I think it removes the last shade of doubt that fellatio is actually a healthy act," said Dr. A.J. Kramer of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who was not involved in the research. "I am surprised by these findings, but am also excited that the researchers may have discovered a relatively easy way to lower the occurance of breast cancer in women."

The University researchers stressed that, though breast cancer is relatively uncommon, any steps taken to reduce the risk would be a wise decision

"Only with regular occurance will your chances be reduced, so I encourage all women out there to make fellatio an important part of their daily routine," said Dr. Helena Shifteer, one of the researchers at the University. "Since the emergence of the research, I try to fellate at least once every other night to reduce my chances."

The study is reported in Friday's Journal of Medical Research.

In 1991, 43,582 women died of breast cancer, as reported by the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Len Lictepeen, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, said women should not overlook or "play down" these findings.

"This will hopefully change women's practice and patterns, resulting in a severe drop in the future number of cases," Lictepeen said.

Sooner said the research shows no increase in the risk of breast cancer in those who are, for whatever reason, not able to fellate regularly.

"There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to volunteer for related research now in the planning stages," he said.

Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is the frequency at which this event occurs that makes the difference, say researchers. Also key seems to be the protein and enzyme count in the semen, but researchers are again waiting for more test data.

The reasearch consisted of two groups, 6,246 women ages 25 to 45 who had performed fellatio and swallowed on a regular basis over the past five to ten years, and 9,728 women who had not or did not swallow. The group of women who had performed and swallowed had a breast cancer rate of 1.9 percent and the group who had not had a breast cancer rate of 10.4 percent.

"The findings do suggest that there are other causes for breast cancer besides the absence of regular fellatio," Shafteer said. "It's a cause, not THE cause."

Batter Up

So much has happened since the last time I posted something, so I will try to fill you in without writing a short novel. I know how exciting it must be to see a new post after such a long time, so I'll make sure to make it a good one. I have been working like crazy and going to PT, so most of my time is wrapped up in that, but I have a few moments when I have been able to pull myself away and have some fun. But speaking of PT, I am now going for my back as well as my knee. I hope to be finishing up in May, but who knows???

Last week I took a few days off and headed back to GA to see my family and friends. It was so nice to be back in GA where the weather is warm and the ladies are hot! I spent my first night hanging out with Remi and Karla and my little Godson Marcus. He is getting so big and cute. He did nothing but smile and giggle and laugh, well that could have been gas, while I was there. After we watched Remi's baseball team kick some ass on the diamond, we headed back to his house and had some dinner. I got to play with Marcus a bit more before it was his bath time and he was off to sleep. Luckily, Karla took over and gave him the bath. It was great to see them, since I never really get out to his house that much.

Friday, I spent the day with mom and we went into Atlanta to see Bodies...The Exhibition. This is the most awesomest thing I have ever seen. They take dead people, scrape off all their skin and you can see the muscles, veins, arteries, organs and bones of all the dead folks. "Once dissected, the specimen is immersed in acetone, which eliminates all body water. The specimen is then placed in a large bath of silicone, or polymer, and sealed in a vacuum chamber. Under vacuum, acetone leaves the body in the form of gas and the polymer replaces it, entering each cell and body tissue. A catalyst is then applied to the specimen, hardening it and completing the process." If you have a chance to see this exhibit, I recommend you go. It is without a doubt the best thing I have seen in a while. Check out the website here: BODIES...The Exhibition.

Saturday, I went to see my friend Julie and her son, Holden. He is anther baby that is just growing like a weed. Holden is about 4 months old and he is just a firecracker. We had lunch with Holden and her husband Brian and after we finished they headed out. I did a little shopping and then met Jon and Chris for dinner in the same area, The Highlands. We ate at Murphy's and had a bottle of wine while we waited for the table. About 45 mins later and a bottle of wine we were seated and had a pretty good meal. If you have never been to Murphy's in the Highland (GA) , then I say give a whirl. It is a nice place and the food ain’t bad. After dinner we headed to a bar for some after dinner drinks and we stayed there talking, catching up for about another 2 hours. After that long day, I was ready to hit the hay.

Easter, Mr. Easter Bunny dropped by the DeMarco's and we had a little Easter breakfast before we started our day. We had reservations at Maggiano's for lunch, so we did not want to eat too much before we had lunch. My mom's friends joined us for lunch and we began to enjoy our Easter dinner at Maggiano's. Two hours later we finished dinner. The server was so slow and such a bad facilitator of our courses, we stayed at our table for 2 hours. Then to top it off he tried to scam us on our bill by giving us all separate checks and then when we paid he would delete a bill or 2, so he could walk with our money; Oldest scam in the book. I had to call the manager to our table after that. Now, I used to work at that Maggiano's, so I knew the manager and we talked a bit and I told him about everything that went wrong. He said his manager apologies and compt’d us 50%. I wasn't looking for that, but I'll take it. After dinner we went back to 'rent's house and we had some light snacks and watched Memoirs of a Geisha. Not a bad flick.

Monday, my big day!!!! I was a guest DJ on Q100 and I had the time of my life!!! Tracy St George was so much fun and all the calls and emails made me feel like I was someone special. I was able to announced the traffic report -some guy was going to jump off of an over pass during lunch hour traffic, he shut down the highway for 3+hours. People called and wanted the police to just go ahead and push him, so traffic could start moving again. After 60 minutes, my time was up and I left the station. I had over 20 voice messages on my cell from my loyal listeners. Thank you and I will be back on the air Aug 7th. I was so good they asked me back. That date also just happens to be my Bday, incase you want to get me a gift.

Later Monday night, I met up with my old Maggiano coworkers and we hung out a 6 Feet Under for some drinks and food. We chatted and laughed, took a few pictures and had some more drinks. After we wore out our welcome there, we headed to E. Atlanta to a bar for more spirits; Gotta love my drinking buddies. I stayed there till about 1am and then called it a day. It was so great to hang out with that crew. I hope everyone has a group of friends you can hang out with and it doesn't matter how much time passes between seeing each other. It is like you never left.

Tuesday, I had lunch with some of the Pi Kapps from GA State. We talked about what's been going on and then just hung out for a bit before they had to get back to class. Oh class, yeah, don't miss that. Have fun in grad school Matt! As the night grew near, I began to pack and headed for the airport. Back to VA and the place I now call home. I miss Atlanta and all my friends and family, but home is where the heart is. I guess I never really left home with so many people there who love and support me.

Peace,
DeMo

Just Peachy

I am not sure what great philosopher once said it, but to paraphrase him: Just because champagne comes in a small glass, doesn’t mean it still can’t kick your ass! Needless to say, I had a good time Friday night, but to the folks who were drinking the Bellini’s you had a great time – not that you’d remember.

Peace,
DeMo
